Monique Leroux is an experienced Chair within private-sector companies, state-owned corporations and government and has a wealth of experience and multi-industry knowledge in finance, insurance and manufacturing.

 

Monique is Senior Adviser to Fiera Capital and Teneo SA. She is an Independent Board member of Michelin, BCE/BELL, Couche-Tard and Lallemand. She also chairs Michelin’s ESG Committee and BCE’s Corporate Governance Committee.

 

From 2016 until 2022, she served as Independent Board member with S&P Global Inc. From 2008 to 2016 she was Chair, President, and CEO of Desjardins Group (the leading co-operative Canadian financial and insurance group), having served as the company´s CFO for 4 years. Before joining Desjardins Group in 2001, she was a Partner at Ernst & Young (Canada) and Senior Vice President at RBC (Royal Bank of Canada).

 

Companion of the Canadian Business Hall of Fame (CBHF) (2018) and the Investment Industry Hall of Fame (IIAC), Monique Leroux is now a Corporate Director and Senior Adviser. She contributes her broad international business experience as Partner at Ernst and Young (EY), Chair of the Board and CEO of Desjardins Group and Chair of the Board of Investissement Québec. During the past 10 years, Monique has been very active in the B7 and B20 global meetings, representing Canada.

 

In May 2020, Monique was appointed Chair of the Industry Strategy Council by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry of Canada, which provided advice and reports to government during the pandemic. She is a member of the G7 Impact Taskforce, representing Canada. Very active in the Canadian community, she is Vice Chair of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (OSM), Chair of the Board of the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec, and Chair of the Board and Governance Committee of Université de Sherbrooke and Advisory Board Chair of the Neuro Institute.

 

Monique is a member of the Order of Canada, an Officer of the Ordre national du Québec, a Chevalier of the Légion d’honneur (France) and a recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Award (United States). She has been awarded Fellowship by the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec and the Institute of Corporate Directors, and holds honorary doctorates and awards from 10 Canadian universities in recognition of her contribution to the business sector and to the community. She is also a Director Emeritus and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Rideau Hall Foundation. She has also published three books.
