Hubert is the former President and CEO, Chair and CEO and, finally, Executive Chair of Best Buy Co. He is also an Independent Director at Johnson & Johnson and Lead Independent Director at Ralph Lauren Corporation. He is a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School, a member of the International Advisory Board of HEC Paris, a Trustee of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and of the New York Public Library, and Adviser at Just Capital and World 50 – G100.

Hubert led Best Buy Co. from 2012 to 2020, as President and CEO, Chair and CEO and Executive Chair. Under Hubert’s leadership, customer satisfaction and employee engagement increased dramatically, the company’s carbon footprint went down by more than 50 per cent, and Best Buy’s share price went from a low of $11 to around $90.

Prior to Best Buy, Hubert was the President and CEO of Carlson Companies from 2008 to 2012, a global leader in the hospitality and travel industry, employing more than 175,000 people in over 160 countries and territories. From 2004 to 2008, he was the CEO of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and prior to that he was a Senior Executive at Vivendi (a French media conglomerate), the President of EDS France and a Partner at McKinsey & Co.

Hubert is also the author of the best-selling book “The Heart of Business: Leadership Principles for the Next Era of Capitalism” (2021).

Hubert has been recognised as one of the top 100 CEOs in the world by the Harvard Business Review, one of the top 30 CEOs in the world by Barron’s, one of the top 10 CEOs in the US by Glassdoor, and one of the top 50 Management Thinkers in the world by Thinkers50 and winner of their 2021 Leadership Award.
