In 2008, as Chair, President & CEO of Sunoco, Inc. and Sunoco Logistics Partners LLC (2008-2012), she became the first woman to lead a major U.S. oil company. She drove a decisive strategic pivot: exiting refinery operations, focusing on high-return logistics and fuel marketing, and orchestrating a successful corporate simplification and recovery of shareholder value.

She is widely recognised for her pioneering 28-year tenure at Royal Dutch Shell, including leadership roles as Executive Vice‑President of Shell Downstream Global Manufacturing, President & CEO of Shell Oil Products USA, and Regional CEO for Asia Pacific & Middle East—positions in which she oversaw refining, petrochemicals, logistics and large-scale operations across North America, Europe, and Asia.
