Bespoke mentoring engagements
Each CMi mentoring engagement is tailored to the specific context of the Mentee and their organisation. It adapts to the individual’s needs and anticipated future opportunities and is all about development in-situ which allows for maximum productivity in tandem with the individual’s operational life. A clear framework for an effective mentoring relationship is established for each assignment at the outset.
Mentor and Mentee
Mentor selection is vital. Mentor background, geographical/sector experience and network are important, however personal chemistry is the overriding factor for a successful and mutually rewarding relationship. Each mentoring engagement is carefully tailored to align with both the company and the Mentee’s defined goals. Each Mentor and Mentee develop their own relationship style which is driven by the needs of the Mentee.
The optimal match
The most successful mentoring relationships are determined by a strong personal relationship between Mentor and Mentee. Some Mentors have deep sector insight; however, industry background and geographic considerations must remain secondary to the optimal matching of personal chemistry. The Mentor and Mentee have an acquaintance meeting, which allows them to determine personal chemistry fit, while validating the expectations of both Mentor and Mentee.
Benefits
01
Confidential relationship
Clear rules of engagement ensure that both parties commit to total confidentiality. This emboldens Mentees to disclose without fear of repercussions and creates a safe space for close communication and a long-term collaboration.
02
Critical thinking
Leaders are often required to make far-reaching business decisions charged with risk and complexity. Gaining the necessary wisdom in such situations, contributes to smart assessment and better decision-making.
03
Unparalleled sounding board
Our Mentors bring vast executive and Board experience, truly understanding the complexities and dynamics of leadership. Mentees have a tremendous opportunity to get a fresh perspective, test leadership ideas, and seek a valuable second opinion.
CMi Forum
CMi Forum dinners are events organised throughout the year. These private sessions are held under Chatham House rule. They offer Mentees the opportunity to engage with other CEOs, Chairs and Executives on relevant business leadership themes and exchange views on key topics. These Forum events provide a breadth of perspectives beyond the immediate mentoring engagement and represent a unique networking opportunity with a peer group that spans business sectors and geographies.
